Big Fish Diaries - Preparation

Torrential rain in Chester and a rising chocolate river further towards the source - a tried and tested recipe for another blank and a miserable one at that. Good day therefore to listen to Everton hopefully add to Liverpool's woes and not waste home Brownie points...

The Environment Agency's Rivercall is always worth a ring before sitting off any distance (0906 619 7755 for Welsh rivers) and the River Dee's automated level counter (01978 710 398) is more accurate still - after a few seconds of sounding like and old ZX Spectrum game loading up it will give a river level reading. If it's four digit the river is in flood so forget any subtle, or even clumsy, fly presentation and get the barbel gear out on the Ribble or the Severn!

Fingers crossed for next week...
